Entry for October 01, 2006

Happy 5th Birthday to Patrick!!!!

My little boy had his 5th birthday party yesterday.  He got a new Spiderman  backpack and the dumptruck in the photo (more on that later) from Mom and Dad.  He got new blinky shoes from Grandma Vicki and Grandpa Denny.  They are certainly very "blinky"!!!  Really cool.  A hummer truck and atv from Uncle Matt and Uncle Keith.  And $10 from Aunt Corlyn, Uncle Brian, Aiden and Austin.  He hasn't decided what to spend it on.  We will make a WW run either today, or next week and he can pick out something.

The cake is my first real attempt to decorate a cake creatively.  I just didn't have the $$ to get a bakery cake.  I had wanted to use small, Matchbox size construction equipment on top, but wasn't able to locate any!  I was going to see if I could find a backhoe and dig a hole in the cake (which is chocolate, like dirt) to look like a foundation and stack the Lego pieces and rocks (which are both candy!! WTG Greg on the Lego find!) to look like a construction site.  Well, I had to make due with this, the dumptruck dumping the rocks.   He really seemed to like it, so I didn't feel too bad that my planned cake didn't work.  I now have six months to think up ideas for two more cakes.  The brainstormng has begun.  I have a pretty good idea for Bekah, its Mariska that is going to throw me for a loop.

I have gotten my ornament out, after being sick for a week.  I forgot to get a picture of it.  I hope my partner likes it.  It was my first attempt at anythig like hardanger and my first piecework in AGES!

I worked on Bug Collector some.  I guess I need to work on Halloween Kitty here shortly, being that its October now.  Image

I have been keeping up on the house ok.  Only had to spend an hour yesterday getting it in reasonable shape, and not even the whole hour.  The kitchen was the worst, but that stands to reason, as Greg was cooking in there all day yesterday.  He made some great bread!!

Still doing well with the meds.  No issues I haven't expected.  Things have been pretty stressful, and I don't know how I would have done without them.  I would probably be in bed right now.

Well, Bekah and I have some reading to do and I have some laundry and sewing to do.  I hope to update later!
