Entry for June 05, 2007

Temp 87 high 91

Yep, that's me up top. Not only has my weekend kicked my a$$, I went and put the cherry on the top yesterday.

All last week it pretty much POURED rain each night. I think we got almost 3" in two days. On top of ground that was already pretty saturated. We had a lake in both the front and back yards. The ground is not supposed to squish when you walk.

Saturday, we had a semi lazy day. I did try to get a bunch of housework done because we planned on going to a WSU baseball game on Sunday. I planned on watching the Ducks play the Sens on tv that night. Sat down and watched the first period then decided to get dinner dished done and the critter cage changed. I went in to start the dishes and I wasn't getting hot water. I asked Greg to check on the heater while I did the cage. Well, he found that the water heater had gone out. For a good reason. We had over 6" of water in the storm cellar. Since it was late, we couldn't get to a pump. We ended up turning off the gas. Luckily. the clothes I had worked to get washed were through the dryer and dry.

We went to Grandma and Grandpa's and took showers and they took the kids for the evening. Sunday we went and bought a pump and spent two hours pumping out the storm cellar. Two solid hours....Then we had to wait for things to dry a bit so we could try lighting the water heater. Thankfully it started and we will be able to use it still. I am sure this has shortened its life. Next one gets plumbed into the mudroom....

Well, that shot our going to the bb game. So instead I sat home, relaxed and worked on my stitching.

Monday I realized I had gotten a stain on it. ARRRGGGHHH. Well, I knew there wasn't much I could do. It was in an obvious place. So I tried to clean that bit with cold water and little bit of Tide. The water wicked over..and what I was afraid of happening, happened, the red bled. I could have cried. And may still. I worked so hard and I think it is ruined. I have nothing to loose now. I have it soaking in cold water and I am going to pick up some OxyClean tomorrow. I don't know what else to do. I have been rinsing with cold water and soaking more. I will keep this up for a while. I have gotten some improvement.

I had a house FULL of kids all day today. Three kids from across the street and four from down the street. Ten kids in and out...I am not used to all this cacophony. It has taken me 3 years to get used to the three I have. But I guess this way, I know where mine are and they aren't getting into a bunch of trouble.

Well, I need to think about starting dinner here shortly. Its breakfast for dinner tonight. Pancakes, bacon and eggs. And I need to frost the cake I made. I will post a picture of my progress on Heinzit's "Wine" later.
