HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

It has been a long time. I know I should have been better about this, but I wasn't doing well for quite a while. I had been limping along on a generic previous generation of my SSRI, and then I was out of that and I fell hard. Greg pretty much forced me to go back to the Dr and get her to argue with the insurance co. that what they wanted me to have wasn't working. Once I got back, things have gotten better.

This is the update on "Northern Shield" As you can see, I am almost done, just three more rows to go. I am getting excited to get it done.

I have joined the working stiffs. I now work at the hospital, cleaning the medical office building three nights a week and doing a patient floor every other weekend. Not exactly what I would want to do for a career, but it will bring in some cash.

The kids are all doing well. Rebekah got all A's on her report card, Patrick got all S's but one-for not coloring neatly. Mariska, well Mariska got a haircut. One night, Greg went to bed and she got up, went down stairs and had herself a grand old time with my embroidery scissors. We did an emergency run to the hair dressers, and this is what she ended up with.

and the back

It looks cute on her, but I will be letting it grow out.

Not much else going on. I would have thought I would have more, but once I sit down to do this, I realize how mundane everything is. I mean I have been doing the same ole' same ole'. I have been reading more lately. I read the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson, "The Afghan" by Frederick Forsythe. I am working on "Echo Park" by Michael Connelly, "The Mephisto Club" by Tess Gerritsen and "Chosen by a Horse" by Susan Richards. Think I have a problem sticking with something????

Ohh, word has come down from on high at Yahoo that 360 will be done away with and a "more integrated" platform will be put in place sometime after the beginning of the year, or at least during the first quarter. I don't know if they will be able to do that, or how successful the migration to the new service will be. So, that said, I will be duplicating these entries on Mulitply. If I end up liking the new product, nothing is lost. If I don't, then everything is over at Multiply. The addy is http://n8iveio1.multiply.com/ . Feel free to check it out.

This train came through town yesterday and Grandpa took the kids to see it. They were suitably impressed by a steam engine. It is apparently one of the last steam engines UP bought and is based out of Cheyenne. It was coming down to do some special trip for the Oklahoma Centennial. Just as a sense of scale, that man in the picture is around 6ft. Those wheels are HUGE.

Temp-74 High-91

I sit here, watching "The Golden Girls" all because I don't want to get up. My feet HURT. We spent the weekend being busy. Friday night was the opening HS football game. Matt went 3/5 in PAT's. He out and out fluffed one and the other miss was a poor snap. Keith did not play. He is supposed to play Monday in the JV game. That made our night really late for the kids. They didn't get to bed until after 11pm.

Saturday we went over to the in-laws for dinner. I spent the day making a Key Lime pie and a banana cream pie. They actually came out really well.

Sunday we started some home maintenance projects. Of course, since this is Greg we are talking about, they projects didn't start until well past noon. And that was just the preliminaries. We had to journey up to Derby to Lowe's to get the supplies. We had two broken windows. One in Patrick's room and one in the living room. Both broken by Patrick, oddly enough. And since they were the original, double hung windows that someone had cut the weights on, Greg decided since he had them apart, he might as well fix them completely. And then there was the debate on matching the stain color. I was right.

So we get home, prep the window frames, and stain them all up. Then find out that since Greg measured the window before repairing it, his measurement was off and he told the lady the wrong measurement. So the glass was too small. So I get to make a trip to the glass store tomorrow to get the correct size.

I finally got the second hole dug and the second clothes line pole set today. Greg was nice and got the clothes line strung while I went and got clothes pins. I have done about 4 loads and hung them in the heat to dry. This should save a little $ on gas usage. Greg made a crack about working to get my dryer hooked up and now I am not using it. So I said that was less about the dryer hooked up and more about the fridge in the kitchen.

Well, I have to toddle. Talk to you all later!

Number two off to first day of Kindergarten. He was really good about it. When I went in to say goodbye, I asked if he wanted me to stay a couple of mins, or take off. He told me to take off.

Its going to be quiet here today....

First day of 2nd grade! (Please excuse the un vacuumed floor. Dog chewed up a sippy cup. Bad dog!)

Well, Bekah got off to school today just fine. I met her teacher, saw her schoolroom and we were just about 2 mins after they led the 2nd graders in. I need to time our walks and I need to get Bekah walking faster. Talk about the pokey little puppy.

Patrick's school required a beach towel be brought for nap time. We couldn't find one, all the summer stuff was gone, so we got him a bath sheet and I went ahead and personalized it. I haven't used my embroidery machine much, but I am hoping to use it more this year for Christmas presents.

And lastly, I caught Compass up to no good. You can just about hear him saying, "OHHHH, lunch....I mean Loach"

Temp 90 HI 96 (better than yesterday's 92 and HI of 102)

No stitching update today. I decided to tackle a couple of things. I dug one hole for the clothes line posts and started the second yesterday. So my back and knees are paying for it today. I decided instead of taking on the second hole, I would go after the butt ugly bathroom paint. This is what it looked like when we moved in:

A really really bad attempt to sponge paint. I see why, it hides a multitude of sins on the wall finish, but to sponge white on to a warm chocolate brown wall just looks horrible. No intermediary colors were used, just the brown base and the white. I would have used a few more colors in that brown family. Here is a close up....

Even with the remnants of the kids' art, I don't like it. So I had a gallon of this really pale blue sitting around that was originally going to be Mariska's room. I decided to use it here. Even if I don't keep it that way for a long time, it certainly looks better than the sponging.

I am going to go out and dig some more tomorrow. I have general housework to do an my bedroom to tidy. And feed the heathens. I am thinking sandwiches are in order. Maybe I can talk Greg into picking up chips. Or some frozen fries and some baby carrots with ranch dressing....

Later all

BTW, Conga rats to Andrea!!!!!!!!! Proud of you

Temp 80 High 95

Since it is the day before back to school, I thought I would post a picture of summer fun. This is a picture that Grandpa took of the kids playing on the rope bridge across the creek in the back of the house in Beulah.

Tomorrow is back to school for Bekah and Kindergarten orientation for Patrick. He starts Tuesday. So today was the trip to Wally's for school supplies. I HATE Super Wallys during the day!!! I wanted to go to KMart, its usually nearly empty. When I would go to WW in Cheyenne, I always went at like 11:30 pm. much less crowded.

Lunches are made, I have one more load in the dryer that should be done here shortly. They are towels, so they can sit just fine. Dishes are put away, most of the kitchen is cleaned up. I am going to finish Ninja Warrior and head to bed. Night all!!

Just a quick update on Northern Shield. I have made good progress on it, in my opinion.

We had some rain yesterday and last night. Remnants of Erin, I think. The rain guage at the school said .05" but considering how much it poured and how much collected in the alley, I suspect it was closer to to half or so. They are saying we could get some of Dean if he goes the right direction.

Saturday, Greg and I got a set of T-bar clothesline poles from a guy in Winfield who posted them on freecycle. They are in good shape. All we had to do was dig one up, but that was only 15 mins or so of work. I am going to paint them white. First I have to find a place to put them and dig two holes. That's going to be the biggie. They are still attached to their cement, so I am just going to get a hole big enough to put them in and then I won't have to chip this stuff off, just to reset them in new cement. First I need to find a place where I don't hit old foundations or tons of broken brick and field stone......

Not much else to say. Watched "Wild Hogs" last night. Its pretty funny. Watching "Fracture" right now.

I need to get back to my folding. TTYL!!

I may be po, but I am not po white trash anymore!! This past week, instead of taking it easy, we have done a minor remodel of the kitchen and mudroom. I now have a fridge, IN MY KITCHEN!!!!!!!! No more trips to the mudroom to get eggs in the middle of cooking. And I have my dishwasher back!!!!! We still have work left to do with the counters. We had to take out three upper cabinets and cut one lower in half. They were all built in probably back in the late '40's and well built, so there was no real saving the cabinets, but we are reusing everything we can. I am going to take the old shelves and put them in the mudroom so I have somewhere to store my laundry stuff. Here is where the washer and dryer ended up, where the fridge was. Laundry/mudroom

And lest you think I let Greg have all the fun, I painted Mariska's and Bekah's rooms and started in on Patrick's.

Mariska's:

Mariska's room

Mariska's entrance door

Bekah's

Bekah's Bedroom

Bekah's Closet door

And last but not least, Patrick's His is barely started, but I hope to have at least two more walls done before he gets back this week

Patrick's Bedroom

Well, I am going to sit back and stitch for a while today. Back to the painting tomorrow. Later all
