I have loved Stephen King's books since I first read "Carrie" in the 6th grade. Here he has written another engrossing book although there are bits that sound like other books. But then again, I get disappointed in King when he strays too far off the beaten path (Gerald's Game leaps to mind). While this book is not up to the bar set by "The Stand" "The Shining" or even "Bag of Bones", I throughly enjoyed reading it and will probably re-read it again when I get through some of the other books on my to read list.

I haven't heard of that one. My all time favorite Stephen King book is The Stand!!!
Yep, The Stand set the bar awfully high way back when - I read that every summer for like 10 years in a row, including the unabridged version, which I stupidly loaned to someone and of course, never saw it again :( It and all of the Dark Towers are my other personal favorites.
I haven't bought the last couple of books, and might just go check this one out of the library; the synopsis I read of it sounds interesting enough. And it doesn't happen in Derry :)
I am a Stephan King reader also! Will be getting this one also!! denisje
You know, I have never been able to get started on the Dark Tower series. I have tried more time than I care to think about and just can't get into it. Kind of like with Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. Maybe its time to try again.
I don't lend my SK books out, to anyone, lol
Thank you for commenting. Enjoy the book, when you get it.
I thought this book was one of his best books. I have just about all his books that he has written. I had to limit myself about 50 pages a day to read this book for I wanted to make it last longer. To me, in my opinion, he is the best author.

I don't disagree that it is one of his good books, I just have 4-5 that I think are better. Of his recent stuff, I really liked "Bag of Bones". I like the good-old-fashioned spook story part of it.
He supposedly has a new book of short stories coming out in November! Yay!!
I think The Stand was his best, I enjoyed Dreamcatchers, I didn't like the Tommyknockers all that well. The Cell which I am reading is okay, started out slow but it is getting better as I read it. I do not like science fiction and the Dark Tower books remind me of those types, though I did buy them. I liked It and Misery, I am with you, Gerald's Game was alittle quirky, didn't even finish it, I liked Desperation and the Regulators, Rose Madder was pretty good, Loved the Green Mile, Enjoyed Deloris Claiborne, haven't finished From Buick 8, Really liked Needful Things, but didn't like the movie as well, didn't even buy The Girl who loved Tom Gordon, loved Insomnia. Did you see the movie The Mist? It was pretty good, didn't like the ending but I read or saw that he did the book for the psychological effect of people if they are trapped together due to a disaster.
