"Brother Odd"

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Books
Genre: Literature & Fiction
Author:Dean Koontz
This is the third in the Odd Thomas series by Dean Koontz. I have enjoyed each installment, both the stories and the characters. And there certainly are characters. From the ghost of Elvis to a mysterious Russian guest at a monastary and a monk who was a former mob muscle man, you really to get to enjoy the people in the book. Koontz give Odd a certain irreverance and a wonderfully droll sense of humor. I can't wait for the next book

November 18, 2007

Wahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!  I finally have a finish of my own to report.  I finished "Northern Shield" I really struggled through the last three rows.  I don't know exactly why, I just couldn't motivate myself to do it.

I have been reading a lot lately.  I may be just going through that phase right now.  I have read "The Afghan", "The Mephisto Club", "Next" and the Maximum Ride series.  I am trying to read "Echo Park" "State of Fear" and "Brother Odd".  I will probably get through this one first.  I really like the character that Dean Koontz created here.  I also have "The Memory Keepers Daughter" floating around here, but I haven't started it yet.

I have been working extra hours, covering shifts, but hopefully that will settle down now.  I don't mind it for the most part.  I bought new shoes and that has helped my feet and back.  I am just getting worn down lately for no real good reason.

I wish I had more exciting things to report.  Just the usual stuff.  I need to get to bed, but I am to agitated.  I think I will try to read and then sleep.

Entry for November 20, 2007

Temp 40. High was 75 at 4pm and down to 55 at 5. Apparently Canada is sending their weather south to us. Yick

Anyway. I just wanted to post a pic of my littlest at her preschool Thanksgiving program. I think she is just a wee bit cute and the little pilgrim "bonnet" looks good on her. But then, I am biased

"The Afghan"

Rating:★★
Category:Books
Genre: Literature & Fiction
Author:Frederick Forsythe
This story had so much potential that was just unrealized. While it is a nice overview of the MidEast and some of the issues that caused the climate there today, there was a distinct lack of human connection in the story. After a series of "yeah, right" circumstances, you just don't really end up caring what happens to either of the two afghans.
